Lets talk Hair
About 5 months ago I noticed that my hair was shredding more than normal. I really didn't think anything of it until I visited my sister in late July. On my first night there I literally clogged the bathtub drain and her husband had to pull handfuls of my hair out of it. There was so much hair that I just wanted to cry and I remember thinking I can't be losing my hair it's already so thin naturally, “Oh my God, I'm going bald.” It was at this point when my sister grabbed me by the head to do a full inspection, she came to the conclusion that my hair was thinning and there were no bald spots (yet). I started researching things that would stop or at least slow the rapid hair loss and found two possible things to help (1) Biotin 10000 mcg once daily and (2) Rogaine. I decided I should first try biotin and started taking it about 2 months ago. At first, I didn't think it was working but after a few weeks I noticed less hair coming out and my hair also looks great. I still don't really know what caused the hair loss for sure; was it MS, my recent flare, or Tecfidera. Some feel that hair loss is a side effect of Tecfidera but I started the medication after I noticed the extra shredding and if it was the cause then it was a small price to pay for a greater outcome.
Some other interesting information about biotin is that it is said to in high dosages help Progressive MS.
